Beta Betta Workflow
We’re not dead! Just. After a mountainload of client work destroyed any chance we had of working on Better Workflow for a good month orso, we’ve finally had a chance to catch our breath and make some progress. Yes, you read that right, progress.
Inside the matrix
As you may have read on our previous post “Fun with third parties”, third party addon support was a massive thorn in our side, in fact, if it wasn’t for those bloody things, this addon would be released, selling like hotcakes and we’d all by riding around on tiny golden tricycles (ha!). But I digress, the real point is, that we’ve cracked the Matrix! Malcolm entered a kind of zen-like state and finally wrote some magical ninja code that does all the things we needed to make draft matrix content work. And with that, it only leaves one last hurdle, Playa. That battle will have to wait though because..
Beta time
We’ve decided to handpick a few lucky (ha!) individuals who’ve asked to have a look at Better Workflow, and fulfill their dreams by sending them a massively beta pre-release of our addon. We’re spending a bit of time this week refactoring some code and doing a bit more testing, but we hope to be sending these out on Friday (not a guarantee, but, we’ll try!). So, if you put your name down, you might be getting a lovely BWF shaped package in your inbox, all ready for the weekend/Monday morning.
While these people are hopefully having the time of their lives/crying at a mountain of buggy code, we hope to get the time to nail Playa and increase our third party support to be:
Then all we need is some more testing, followed up by lashings of more testing, and with a tiny bit more testing we will be ready to release the first iteration of Better Workflow to the unsuspecting public. Excited? We are!
Keep watching this space, and our twitter feed (@electriclabs) for more information, and possibly another screencast coming your way soon!
Cheers for now,
Rob (@robzor)

The chaps at Electric Putty gave us a demo of this at a LondonEErs EE meetup a few months ago and we were all very impressed with it and look forward to the final release. This may be the one add on that allows ExpressionEngine to break into the corporate market.
